Your PDFs stay on your device
Privacy is the core design principle of FreeEditPDF. We do not ask you to upload files, create an account, or share personal information.
What we do not collect
- We do not upload, store, or process your PDFs on our servers.
- We do not require an account, email, or password.
- We do not track individual files or their contents.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
How it works locally
FreeEditPDF uses two open-source libraries that run entirely inside your browser. PDF.js renders the document to the screen, and pdf-lib reads and writes the PDF bytes. Both libraries execute in a WebAssembly sandbox on your device.
Files you open are loaded into memory or stored temporarily in the browser's Origin Private File System and IndexedDB. They never leave your computer. You can verify this by opening your browser's Network tab in DevTools: no PDF data is sent to any remote server.
Analytics and cookies
We use minimal, privacy-focused analytics to understand site traffic. This data is aggregated and cannot identify you or your files.
